Privacy Policy

Bloomsbury Information Limited (“Bloomsbury” "we" “our” “us”) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.

This policy (together with our terms and conditions and any other documents referred to on it) sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, via www.qfinance.com (the “Website”) will be processed by us. Please read the following carefully to understand our practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it. By using the Website and/or submitting personal data via the Website you consent to the collection, storage, use and disclosure of such personal data in accordance with the provisions of this privacy policy.

For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the "Act") the data controller is Bloomsbury Information Limited, 36 Soho Square, London W1D 3QY.

Information we may collect from you

We may collect and process the following data about you:

  • Information that you provide by filling in forms on the Website, such as your      name, email address, postal address, telephone or mobile number. This includes information provided at the time of registering to use the Website and/or a particular service provided by us (e.g. a newsletter), purchasing publications through the Website, posting material on or to the Website or requesting further services. We may also ask you for information when you enter a competition or promotion sponsored by us or another company in our group of companies, and when you report a problem with the Website.
  • If you contact us or submit a contribution to the Website, we may keep a record of that correspondence or contribution and any personal information contained in or on it.
  • We may also ask you to complete surveys that we use for research purposes, although you do not have to respond to them.
  • Details of transactions you carry out through the Website and of the fulfilment of your orders.
  • Details of your visits to the Website (including, but not limited to, traffic data, location data, weblogs and other communication data, whether this is required for our own billing purposes or otherwise) and the resources that you access. This is explained further below.

Tracking information and cookies

We may collect information about your computer, including where available your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration and for the purposes of analysing user traffic and browsing patterns.

We also collect information about user demographics, traffic and browsing patterns through the use of cookies. A cookie is a small data file which is sent to your computer when you access the Website and stored on your computer’s hard drive. Cookies to not collect personally identifiable information about you, but they are unique to each user so that we are able to distinguish between users. Your browser will only allow a website to access the cookie it has sent to your computer, not the cookies sent to your computer by other websites.

Cookies help us to improve the Website and to deliver a better and a more personalised service to users. They enable us:

  • To estimate our audience size and usage pattern.
  • To recognise you when you return to the Website.
  • To store information about your preferences, and so allow us to tailor the content you see when you access the Website accordingly.

You will not receive unsolicited marketing communications from us and/or from third parties selected by us unless you have expressly agreed to this.

Disclosure of your information

We may disclose your personal information to any member of our group, which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 736 of the UK Companies Act 1985.

We may disclose your personal information to third parties:

  • To the extent necessary to enable us to carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us or to fulfil any request you have made for particular services.
  • In the event that we sell all or substantially all of our business or assets to a third party, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective buyer of such business or assets and may sell and transfer personal data collected through the Website in connection with and pursuant to the sale of any such business or assets.
  • For marketing purposes (by third parties), but only where you have consented to such disclosure when submitting your personal information.
  • If we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our terms and conditions and other agreements; to operate our systems properly; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Bloomsbury Information Limited, our customers, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.

We may disclose your personal information to data processors, agents, sub-contractors and other members of our group in connection with the uses described above.

We do not disclose information about identifiable individuals to advertisers, but as explained above we may provide them with aggregate information about our users.

Where we store your personal data

The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area ("EEA"). This may include transferring the data outside the EEA to a company within Bloomsbury’s group or to a third party affiliate or partner of Bloomsbury’s (where we have obtained your consent to disclose your personal data to such third party). It may also be processed by staff, agents or sub-contractors of Bloomsbury and/or one of our suppliers operating outside the EEA. Such staff, agents or sub-contractors may be engaged in, among other things, the fulfilment of an order placed by you via the Website, the processing of your payment details and the provision of support services. By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing outside the EEA. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy and, to the extent that such transfer is within our control, with the relevant protections required by law in place.

The Website is accessible via the internet and so may potentially be accessed by anyone around the world. Other users may access the site from outside the EEA. This means that where you choose to post your data on a public area of the Website, it could be accessed from anywhere around the world and therefore a transfer of your data outside of the EEA may be deemed to have occurred. You consent to such transfer of your data for and by way of this purpose.

Security

Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of the Website, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.

The transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to the Website; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us not to process your personal data for marketing purposes. We will usually inform you (before collecting your data) if we intend to use your data for such purposes or if we intend to disclose your information to any third party for such purposes. The Website contains links to and from the websites of third parties, including our partner networks, advertisers and affiliates. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies or the privacy practices of such third parties. Please check these policies before you submit any personal data to these websites. This privacy policy relates only to information collected by us.

Access to information

Under the Act you can ask to review personal information we hold about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected by contacting us at qfinance@bloomsbury.com. Any access request may be subject to a fee of £10 to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you.

Changes to our privacy policy

Any changes we may make to our privacy policy in the future will be posted on this page and you should check this page from time to time to take notice of any changes we might make.
