marketing planning


process of deciding plan for promoting firm's products the process of producing a marketing plan incorporating overall marketing objectives and the strategies and programs of action designed to achieve those objectives. Marketing planning requires a careful examination of all strategic issues, including the business environment, the markets themselves, competitors, the corporate mission statement, and organizational capabilities. The resulting marketing plan should be communicated to appropriate staff through an oral briefing to ensure it is fully understood.
