In September 2008, the authorities passed a stimulus package that envisaged a fiscal impulse of 0.3% of GDP in 2008 and additional stimulus in 2009–10. The 2009–10 budget includes a stimulus package of 1.5% of GDP in 2009 and an additional 0.4% of GDP in 2010. The fiscal measures were largely
markets. The Chinese government has stimulated domestic demand with loose fiscal and monetary policies. These measures enabled China’s gross domestic product growth to rise to 7.9% in the second quarter of 2009, up from 6.1% in the first quarter. The economy is expanding at a slower pace than the double-digit growth seen in the 2003–2007 period but appears on the track for recovery and has avoided the recessions that have afflicted more advanced economies
