Stephen Haddrill
Stephen Haddrill took up his post as director general of the Association of British Insurers in 2005, focusing on maintaining and developing its influential relationship with government and regulators. Previously he was a civil servant, joining UK government service in 1978 and ultimately rising to the position of director general, Fair Markets Group, at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Between 1990 and 1994 he worked for the Hong Kong government as a member of the Governor’s central policy unit. Haddrill was recently appointed chief executive of the Financial Reporting Council, and will begin this new role in November 2009.
