Sir Christopher Hogg was chairman of the UK Financial Reporting Council from January 2006 to May 2010. He began his career in industry with Courtaulds in 1968, was a nonexecutive director and subsequently chairman of Reuters Group, SmithKline Beecham, and then GlaxoSmithKline, and Allied Domecq. He has also been a member of the UK Department of Industry’s Industrial Development Advisory Board and a nonexecutive director of the Bank of England. Sir Christopher is a graduate of Oxford University and Harvard and saw active service with the Parachute Regiment in Cyprus and Suez while on National Service. Before his career in industry he worked for three years in corporate finance in the City and for two years in the public sector.
