María Soledad Martínez Pería
María Soledad Martínez Pería is a senior economist in the finance team of the Development Economics Research Group of the World Bank. Her published research has focused on currency and banking crises, depositor market discipline, and foreign bank participation in developing countries. Currently she is conducting research on financial sector outreach and on the impact of remittances on financial development. Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked at the Brookings Institution, the Central Bank of Argentina, the Federal Reserve Board, and the International Monetary Fund. She holds a PhD in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA from Stanford University.
